3 favorite short stories
There are so many great short stories in this collection! I almost never have just one favorite. Who ever said you only need one favorite anyway? Without further ado, here is are my three favorite short stories!
The Lottery
“The Lottery” is one of my favorites because of the lesson it teaches. We learn to think critically, which is becoming increasingly important in our world today.
Another reason I like this short story is because of its unexpected ending. It provides a big shock, leaving readers open-mouthed after they finish it!
The Gift of the Magi
It seems like every story in this collection has someone die! I like this story because it is ironic and sweet at the same time. It’s also a little sad, since Della and Jim can’t use their gifts. “The Gift of the Magi” teaches us to act selflessly and lovingly.
The Interlopers
This story is on my list because it is so ironic! I was happy to see that George and Ulrich made up. I awaited their rescue hopefully and anticipated seeing if their friendship would last. When I read the last sentence, I laughed out loud. This could not be happening! I won’t spoil it in case you haven’t read it yet, but in that case I don’t know what you’re waiting for!
